Shimano Curado 200 or Calcutte TE 200 and a Shimano V-rod VCT70FS or G Loomis Crankbait rod CBR 841/7'. Many different rods will work (7' 6-12lb extra fast action rods). I prefer the higher end, lightest rods and reels you can find. Thousands of casts in a weekend can be a fast way to carpal tunnel syndrome.
Man, I miss the wadefishing!!!

That 400 would be way to much reel. I do a lot of this type fishing, almost weekly. My freezer if full of both fish mentioned. I use Shimano calcutta GTB200 and Shimano Curado 200sf. Either reel would be plenty for these fish. I often catch big bull reds as well with them. I use 7' Inshore Falcon Coastal X9's for rods with great results. Any like size reels I've mentioned by other makers will work for you. Of course, stay away from the cheap stuff.
For spinners, I have a few Shimano Spheros SP4000FA that I use on real windy days and my family uses when with me. Great reels for only $80.00. Again on Falcon Coastals.
You might want to look at the new Shimano Curado 300. It has great reviews with real good drag numbers. I've been looking at it. Just don't have the need as of now.

No problem, the flounder left the canels, so mainly fishing reds now at the ends of canels were it's deep and along struture. We had a good flounder and trout bite this year. We can still catch a limet of reds pretty much any time we go, both I prefer the other two fish. Can't wait until the weather starts to get better so we can get offshore. That's what I enjoy the most.

I'm with Anthony. A 400 is too much reel and you definitely need a levelwind for that kind of fishing. I have caught a thousand trout and reds growing up in South Texas, and for 99.9% of those fish, a 100 sized Calcutta, Curado, or Chronarch, filled with 30# spectra and a flourocarbon shock leader (3-5 feet tied with an Albright knot) will give you well over a 100 yards of line and work just fine. It'll be much lighter and you'll feel better after a day of casting. You can break out the Calcutta 400 when you are tying into the oversized bull reds at the jetties, or other structure.

Our weather has been back and forth down here in Ga. One day its freezing cold and the next day will be in the 70's... So you have to pick and choose your days around here.. Mostly fishing for reds and trouts in the shallows on sunny days.. Its hard to come by a limit of fish this time of year. But I try every chance I get. Thanks for the advice Kevin, trust me I use every bit I get...... But as for the offshore fishing here unless you have a SW wind you can bet your ass the seas are going to be 5 to 6 feet and the guy I offshore fish with only has a 21' boat so 5 tp 6 seas are pretty rough...

I fish a calcutta 150 on a Gloomis BBR 904c 7'6" and have landed many good sized fish.

I did this whole thing a year ago and decided on the curado 300 DSV. It is a bigger reel than I anticipated, but the thing is a winch. Probably more reel than is necessary for what you are doing. The 200 Curado, well...I am not sure that it is built for the salt like the 300 is. I could be wrong, but that was the impression that I got.
The calcuttas are great too. I have a 250A that is about 8 years old and it is still my go to reel for inshore duties. I am sure that the TE version would be even better.
I have also heard great reviews of the daiwa luna. For the money, I hear they are ahead of the calcutta TEs. Who knows, but they are worth looking at nonetheless.
A smaller profile reel to look at as well is the shimano calais A. It's expensive, but apparently a great inshore reel. Plenty of drag, and very light in weight.
