| Suggestions for a rod please
While in Minnesota for vacation I ran across a Saltist 50H at Cabellas and picked it up for $99 new, could not resist. I loaded it with 40# P-Line and now am looking for a rod to put it on. I know for most local stuff the 40# may be overkill but I already have 20#, 25# and 30# rigs. I would like to use this rig on paddies, and for some tuna fishing later in the year. I have tried but have yet to get throwing iron down so I will mostly be using this for bait fishing. Your suggestions please?

Joe,
I use a Penn Baja Special as my 40# reel and have it on a Seeker Black Steel G6470. It works just fine and will throw the iron OK.
Good Luck,
Rusty sends

Dude, yer fully making Striper owners look lame, you know that right? | I really went to Iowa, but had a 3 day booty call in MN. You know every now and then you have to visit the family What I really want to know is how little towns like Ottawa MN and Kearney NE have Cabellas and we do not?
Thanks for the replies.

Joe, get John to make you a Seeker CJB70F cut down to 6 and a half feet. Its the perfect 40# bait rig. Ken hooked me up with both of mine and I love them.

Thanks for the replies. | Easy one. We are smart enough to use computers and have the crap sent to our homes. Nice job on the booty call .

I just built one for a guy fishing 25# maybe 30#, even at 6'6" no matter where you cut the blank it would not be heavy enuff in my book for 40#. I fish 40# on a 6' Cut CJBF65H, and i feel like it could be a 30# rod.

Ken cuts down a CJBF 70 (Grabowski Special), not a CJB70F. That must have been a typo. They take some off the tip and the butt. It is a great 40 lb rod.

Joe, sorry about the typo. Paul is right on the money. It's a CJBF70 cut to 6.5', and is an outstanding 40# bait stick! John does great work at a reasonable price.

If you bump that Saltist up to 50# it'll work fine, too. If you want an 8-footer, pull on the 800H and Seeker's 6480H, too. Then go talk to Kevan and check out the GUSA's. Check 'em all out and go with what you like.
If you prefer fiberglass rods, check out the CS 670-8. I have a couple of 'em, LOVE 'em for 40#.
