Easily 20# of drag. Bulletproof gears and frame. Incredible freespool. Outcast any lever drag of similar class....
Forget it though, the price is too low and you'll have to re-train your thumb.

best 20lb ever. i had one for a year or two. and it caught more yellowtail and dorodo ever. the spools just dont stop spinning, and the drags are perfect.

Brad,
If you haven't already, stop in at Ken's and see what they say it's best for. They are the ProGear gurus. I've been with Ken on a 5-day trip before. Here's a guy that could fish with any brand he wanted, whatsoever. What's he bring? A couple old red ProGears - one with 30#, one with 40# - and that's all he used, the whole time. Great reels.

If you get a chance to get to the FHS this week, stop at Ken's. He has a big selection of the pro gear C/S on hand. He has a great price on them at the show.

My only gripe about the CS 500/501 are the bearings go bad really fast. I use a drop of that Black Market Oil and it still gets salt into it. It's also a little torquey. Overall, a good 6:1 bait reel. I say get one.
