Take a hike outta this thread shithead. That comment is for the casting contest which will come around soon enough. And if you make that comment in that thread, be prepared to back it up..... | Yeah, when is that fucking casting contest coming around again? If we can keep the captains and DD upperdeckers out of it and ZZZZ lends me his 100J again, I might win the thing this year
The only way to see who can toss iron versus who just tosses off is to show up at the gig. Jason/Ali, get off your asses and start planning.

I'm hoping to make it this year. I'm bring'n the old school 690 and a 338. Both from circa 1988. Hypalon, reel seat, and a Wahoo wrap.
Who am I kidding? You guys are gonna hand me my ass.

My 9fter does fine with the sealine sh 20 and 20 lb, if its a bit on the lightside.I like the High ratio so I reckon the 50 would be a good choice if you were partial to the brand. ANyhow, good luck on the water.

Jay,
I'm curious about the toruim 50 myself. Went to the Fla Sportsman fishing expo this weekend. The shimano booth had 1 of the new 50's in thier display, but none of the morons they had working the booth could give me the lowdown on the specs for the 50. Furthermore it doesn't appear in thier 07 products catalog. I punish my toruim 20 and 30 and have had the 30 serviced once in three years. Two dry tortugas trips a year and grouper fishin 200'+ a couple times a week crankin 50lb Spectra at the retrieve speed I'm getting I got no complaints. If you know where to find the specs on the 50 let me know.
Thanks,
Dirtyfoot

Here is a wild crazy guess...
Check the Shimano website. http://fish.shimano.com/catalog/fish...=1161958659654

TOR20 46 20/420, 25/300 20.0 3 BB/1 RB 6.2:1 22.8
TOR30 46 25/420, 30/350 20.0 3 BB/1 RB 6.2:1 23.3

just got my torium 20 back from shimano for a free drag upgrade. if you have one id highly recommed this, unless you like your rod tip to bounce several times after you button down the drag and to hear a stange poping sound then slack line and no hook or fish at the end of it.
the original drags were so crappy shimano actually refused to send them back (i specifically asked for them too). i think they recognize the bad drags and therefore accepted a free upgrade.
hate to admidt it but i actually prefer my daiwa sealine x for casting better... and its cheaper too but for the same price of a torium you can get a diawa saltist, better reel imo.

Chance | what up chance. i'm hear still in the circus show. how are things with you man? Hit me up some time. As far as reels, I like the Newell. I remember the first newell i had (P332), John Anjard from the DD gave me some casting tips. He told me to pack that sucker with as much line as possible. The DD Crew also helped me get used to the whip of the 100j. Had that rod since junior high and still love it. Thinking about selling though.

Also, which series is best (p series, s series, etc,) | Depends on how big your hands are. 338's are wider and that makes it a little harder for small thumbs to level wind the line back on.... Other than that the reels are basically identical. You'll obviously have less line on the 332, but there aren't to many local fish that are gonna spool you. They're out there, but we don't catch them everyday.
