Get ahold of Alan Tani. His buddy made me a killer handle.

You can use any of the Daiwa SL handles. I use the torpedo style from the original SL-Sh reels on my 525's, 535 and 545. You need the metric cap screw for it too.
I think the Daiwa Saltist handles fit too.
You can use a Trinidad/Torium handle, again you'll need a screw for the nut cap.

It will require some grinding to get the stock knob off the handle, but the knob is worth it for your hands. It'll about 20 or so. I'll see if I can find the link.
good luck.

Don't just mount Alan's handle to the existing GS handle... especially if it's black like in his first picture above... it bends too easily. Use a Daiwa SL handle which is much sturdier then put his knob on that like in the 7th picture.

I can bend the stock arm with the factory rubber knob. I did it on both 555 and 545's. With your much larger knob it'll bend easily in the hands of dedicated iron cranker. I think Penn's current production has a chrome arm which is stronger/stiffer than the older black ones.

no argument, there. i think stainless is best, chromed brass is ok. i think aluminum is to be avoided. interesting, the older tld arms, older penn arms, old aftermarket accurate arms, some daiwa and current t-bar arms are all aluminum. the thin ones have problems with flex. both thick and thin have problems with corrosion.
go stainless!
