Shimano Service

What happened to the bitchin Shimano service? I just got the invoice for the three reels sent in for service. $97.50. Ouch! And $5 for shipping. I guess the days when they did it for free is over. I was told that at least I wasn't charged the trinidad upgrade they did at the show. WTFuck...

Re: Shimano Service

I just got 3 reels back and all the upgrades done free...Several bearings replaced as well as the anti reverse on all of them. Well I paid the $25 lube charge for one of them. So $25 for all 3 reels...AWESOME IMO

I just got a bill from Daiwa...I couldn't open up my CVZ millionaire and those who have them know they are notorious for having loctite on the tiny screws therefore I couldn't open it to service. Two bad bearings as a result and a $35 bill from Daiwa. I've asked them two to leave the loctite off them...I'm going to call and see what they can do about it.

Re: Shimano Service

I have never, ever had a bad experience with Daiwa. Besides, they make one hell of a reel.

I am thinking about buying a Baja Special, but I am not sure if it's better than a Saltist 50. So I think I'll buy a Saltist 50!

Good fishin',

Re: Shimano Service

Myself and three other buddies sent our Toriums in for the drag upgrade, a total of 15 reels and no charge, free return shipping.
All reels were back within a week.
I'd call that great customer service......

Re: Shimano Service

Shit this reminds me that I need to pick up a reel I dropped off there like a month ago lol. Well, with my experience they probably dont have it done. Shimano service is ok. Generally, it takes them a long time to repair any reel or service them. IMO you cant beat Avet service. I sent my LX and MXL in to be serviced and I got them back in perfect working order in two days. Now that is what I call service.

Re: Shimano Service

Shimanos been slacking REALLY bad right now.
we've been trying to get some parts to repair our customers reels for quite a while and we just cant seem to get them in. the whole reason that I use Shimano is because its easy to get replacement parts but if it takes a month to get them in i might as well use a Quantum. As far as service goes they've always treated me really well. I dont want to take buisness away from Noahs so i wont give my little sales pitch, but most tackle shops will service your reels for pretty cheap. Alot cheaper than $97.50 and no shipping.
