| The anti-reverse bearing can fail under really heavy drag or if it gets too much lube and the anti-reverse pawl doesn't always catch. There is a remedy available if you find it necessary. see Alans: "Torium that clicks" |

| Not a big deal...
The pawl basically gets mashed down slightly by the one way gear (that sits under the main shaft) and basically doesn't catch anymore.
For 180 bucks (Torium), use it til you lose it and then just drop it off at Shimano in Irvine on the drive from San Diego to LA and they'll ship it back to you pretty quick all fixed up.
Or try a Saltist, but I think my TOs/TNs crank better and have better drag... |

| IMHO you can't go wrong with an upgrade from Alan. After he works his magic it is a different reel. Yes it clicks but the power and reliability is outstanding, this is the normal internal set up on a Trinidad DC so it makes sense to upgrade. Alan's also a very honest and great guy to deal with. I've definitely put my reels to the test from deep water halibut to albacore can't go wrong with the Alan Tani DC spring and pawl upgrade. |
