| Tallica *II, Avet SX Raptor, or Daiwa Saltist LD30
Which would you guys recommend for a small 2-speed lever drag. Price is a smaller determining factor than performance. I'm looking for something to fish 30 or 40 lb line with live bait.
I am thinking the SX Raptor so far mainly because I can get it in purple to match the rod I'm building right now. The rod is a GUSA 70 HP and I am making it faily light weight which is why I'm looking for a smaller 2-speed rather than going to an LX- or JX- 2 Speed. Thanks for any input. I would rather sacrifice a matching-color reel and go for whatever is best though.
I have been to squidco and looked at all three and played around with them a little bit, but I have never used either of them. The tallica and saltist both got pretty good reviews but I haven't found many different reviews of the raptor yet.

The BX400N and Raptor are imo top choices. I have no experience with the tallica and wouldnt even consider the saltist compared to these reels.

Fuck shimano... Buy American...
I like both the Raptor and the Accurate... The saltist is a good reel but imo not on the same class as the other options listed...

Thanks guys. I think I'm leaning towards the Raptor at this point. I'll be done building the rod next week maybe so I'll let you guys know what I end up getting. Too bad my tuna season is over, probably won't get to use it much until spring time but I'll give a review as soon as I have something to say about it. One other thing I like about avets is that they're implement inside and easy to service myself and I'm happy with the 4 that I already have.

For 30# the Raptor may do it. But the only way you are fishing 40# is with all braid and 10 feet of mono or flouro. I held it yesterday in the shop and it ain't a 40# machine although the drags could support it. Not enough spool mass to give you any torque based on rotation and not enough capacity. It's "dainty"
I fish all AVET and it is a sexy beast though. Mini HooX

Have'nt used one but have heard the new Talicas have great cranking power even in high gear. Plenty of drag too.

Im really pleased with the little raptors, So much so my second one should be here tomorrow. Im still amazed at the amount of line they hold.
