BX2-500 separating from base?

What is the recommended way to fix or avoid this problem? Seems there are 2 instances of it happening while fighting fish. I have a brand new bx2-500 myself and want to avoid the same problem.

Here is the snippet from another post

As I was fighting the fish up and down while it was doing its circle of death, the reel’s base came off of the reel! Yes, it came off completely! I noticed that the base lost a couple screws from it not having any locktite. (This happened to someone before on the forum). I now only have 2 of the 4 screws. So I now have the reel base on the reel seat of the rod, and I’m holding BX2-500 reel itself with my other hand. Now what?!?! Luckily, Craig, Tommy, and Matt came to the rescue. They got a screwdriver and tightened the screws that were holding the reel base to the reel itself tightly and continued the battle. After about 2 mins, the reel came off again! This is the 2nd time, and by now, I figured the screw threads on the reel were stripped.

Thanks

Have you tried contacting Accurate about this?

I would bet they would take care of this. Second hand info doesn't really help either.

General maintence includes checking the screws on the reels before you use them. A couple of minutes of going over your reels before each trip will usually take care of problems like this.

Got your message the only thing I can suggest you do if you have any doubt is to make sure they are tight and if you look at the top of where the screws are visible in the frame it self you should see a little red residue on the end of the screw threads that would indicate locktite has been applied .

That would be me! I've sent in the reel for you guys to take a look at. It was a BX2-500 in Gold. Jason, please give me a call when you have taken a look at the reel. My number is 213-631-1654.
