So I have a pile of TLD15s that sit and laugh at me when I try to wrap my Tom Selleck hands around them. If you never watched Magnum, he had big mitts and grabbed his surf ski paddle like no other...
Anyhoo, so I have 5 TLD 15s I am looking at and want to make them better or buy new reels. Being the Trinidad and Torium handles are freakishly overpriced, I found a nice alternative.
I took some Hyp, cut and fit it, and epoxied it in place. The reels have new life and I am not that sucker that dropped $40 on some handle.
Enjoy and do it! |

Makes the reel feal like new.
I am not sure the diameter of the Hyp I used, but I will post is asap.
Shimano charging so much for handles chases guys away. I love their service, but their pricing on parts is a bit nuts.
Trinidad handle = $40.00
Used TLD-15 = $50.00
No contest

I spent the last 5 min trying to fit the largest Hyp over my shlong to give you what you wanted. It just would not fit.
Sorry man, use your imagination.
O wait, give me a few with "Red Tube" and I will create the "epoxy" part of the install.

LMAO lol.. You know whats funny how they try and sell you a handle that is almost the full price of the Reel wtf.. Seriously though that was a good idea and im going to try it on one of my smaller reels to see how it feels I hate the fact that the handles are so damn hard and after cranking for a while on a heavy fish my fingers lock up and go numb. So this might just help

Word Jesse.
Hope it helps.
My reels are way happy not being douched with the $40 handle.
It's always much better to make your own stuff than buy it.

I feel ya chuck, I paid $28 bucks for a fucking popper lure i looked at it and was like WTF this stupid shit is easy to make, I started molding one yesterday and will cast one by next week it cost me in total 10 to make it lol.. Same lure exact same everything, of course with my little twist to it.
