for the record

sorry, been busy..
the difference with our new extreme reels: larger anti reverse bearings (2)(we dont use dogs in our boss reels, jus in our atds..) much heavier shifting mechs... larger drive shaft.. heat treated main AND pinion gears.. larger spool shaft.. and some cosmetics... there is nothing wrong with the old two speeds.. these are just heavier duty.. you can actually get pretty good deals on the old two speeds... we dropped the price bout 100 dollars about 450 now..
NOW, as far as what i recommend on our reels:
these are rough estimates
i put 200 yds of 50 spec on the 197 with a 20 or 30 top.. little bit longer top shot on the 197.. on the 270 single and two speeds, i put 400 yds of 50 spec with a short top of 30 40 50 or 60!!! obviously im fishing the two speeds with the 50 or 60.. that is my guadalupe special, my b2-270 and my sw65h graphiteusa (my blue one at he show)SICK!! as far as the b2870 375yds of 65 spec with a top of 60 or 80.. not alot of line for an 80 class reel, so i just use it as my 60lb... my 80 lb is the b2-30, it has lugs so i can use rail straps to troll, or for dropper loop at night.. my 100 or 130 is the atd12.. i put 500 yds of 100 spec and a 100 or 130 top shot.. i dont fish the 665's.. but i recommend 60 or 80 on them...
as far as drags.. our single speeds have the same drags as their 2 speed brothers..
197 270 easily 20 to 30 lbs
870 and 665 30 to 40 lbs
b230 and 50's bout 40 to 45lbs
atd's are another class
6 and 12's 50 lbs
30's and 50's 50-60 lbs
80 and 130 80 to 100 lbs
hope that answers some questions..

as far as ricemans' reel the lugs were some how banged and were riding against his spool.. i never saw him, my boss helped him...

How many pounds of drag does the 197 get at strike. Ive been looking at the reel for a while and I know it gets a lot but whats the actual number.

i assume the 400 and 500 are stronger then the 270 and 870... but how much drag? just wondering. Bought them a couple days ago. i didnt trust the guy at the tackle shop though... he said that the B2-30 had over 100lbs of drag not sure if thats true but i didnt believe it haha.

the jeff thing, classic.......
i call it fried rice
the atd12 will get it done but has a higher lower ratio than the b2's
less capacity, smaller drag plates, smaller spool, and,
luv em, but,
my buddy turned one in to the shop fried after a few bigguns
accurate advertises a bx2665 for 60 but you'll do the old b2870 to 80?
they must've made the new extremes for you Jason
