Nice line up Kenji!!! Looks like some South pt water.

My condolences to the Newell family. I wonder how long production will carry on now. And we may see prices go up???

There is no water like south point water.

A friend and I were talking about his (C. Newell) reels after I shared w/him this news... I had heard a while back that when he passes, production will stop. This was just tackle shop talk though.

There truly is something magical about strapping a first generation G or P series reel onto your rod and sending a lead out into the water. He really knew how to design a great reel.

In the early 70's you had a choice (Penn Reels) of a heavy metal spool that was useless for trying to cast an anchovy, or a plastic spool that cast fine, but would "explode" with the mono we use to use back then. Then came the "Newlie Spoolie" made of aluminum (I think?), and changed the way we fished for many species of fish, especially bluefin tuna at Clemente and Catalina.

RIP

What a man he was. He changed and revolutionized they way we all fish and set a certain standard still held to now. "Thanks and R.I.P"

If you have never fished or worked on a Newell, you are missing out.

Simplicity of design and lightweight spools make them legendary.

RIP Mr. Newell, thanks for all the fish in the cooler.

Man, I'm just barely finding out about this.

Thank you Carl for making such a fantastic reel that has so influenced my enjoyment of fishing.

Rest In Peace.

Sincerely,

David
