OK OK!!!!!

At the behest of my "old" friend fsholic Jay............

I am going to lay all confusion to rest

First of all,

Fishordie, aka Jaime is correct.
"if" you are targeting "cows" yes, get the ATD.
I too, say, get the 50
My point to my "old" buddy Jay, was that these new extremes fill the gap
of fishing the "30" range and below atd reels.
And, regardless of how well the ATD freespools, these new extremes are off the hook.
so, old buddy, just trying to give you a hot tip

Jay told me it's 90% fisherman 10% tackle and I agree.

Let's face facts: You can have all the big gear in the world and you'll end up catching a dink on the kite and hooking moo moo on your light gear fishin wahoo.
Never fails.

Good idea about changing the handle of the 30 Jay to the 50

So, there it is..........

pick bite? i'm using the extremes.
cattle stampede? out comes the big guns.

Good luck on that 10 dayer Jay. you might want to PM me as to what was working, I just got off the RP.

Ultimate of all the reels you listed and even the ones you didn't would be the ATD's and it's not even close! If you have the cash to spring for one and you plan on fishing long range more then once or twice it absolutely justifies purchasing the best. You won't be sorry. And you can buy the SDS and save some money and yeah use it towards another 5 day but then when you use someone else's ATD on one of those trips you will wish you had spent your money on one in the 1st place please believe. I also agree with Jaime and don't go above the ATD 30, well kinda...

50 sized reels for eastern Pacific yellowtail are obsolete. They were designed before the advent of spectra and they are a huge pain in the ass to hold at the rail all day. Get a 16 sized reel and have the drags bumped up to 50#. Spool it with 80# spectra spliced into hollow 130 for the windon leader. Make sure it's topless.
