What are your thoughts on using WD40 to clean/lubricate spool bearings? I have a procedure that includes taking out the bearings, flushing them out with WD40 and then reinstalling them, without anything else. I've done that for the past two years on my baitcasters. I've read on the WD40 website that it displaces water, cleans and slightly lubricates, even after it appears to be dry. I'm thinking this is the perfect stuff for my spool bearings. Then again I know there are a lot of negative opinions on using WD40 on reels. What do you think? Heres a link to their website
