Yellowtail Darkmeat?

I filleted my first yellowtail sunday and came across a long strip of dark meat. It ran down the length of the fish. I cut it out assuming it might not be as tasty as the white meat. Is that what most of you do or do you leave that dark piece in?

thanks

Cut it out - it is VERY strong tasting. Some folks actually like it though - especially my asian friends.

"Dude why don't you fish more and ask less fuckin questions???" --- I wish I could Stan, I wish I could. Too funny I suppose there will be different opinions on this but I personally cut it all out. I do not care for the stronger taste of it.

Re: Yellowtail Darkmeat?

Almost all of the offshore species Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado have a bloodline that runs down the side of the fish. Some people like it but most do not. I myself do not like it and cut it out.

Cat food, lobster bait, good way to scare away 1st time yellowtail eaters.

Ask away jimbo, makes me feel important.

Its better to ask questions and do shit the right way rather than not asking questions and fuck up. I cut out the dark meat.
