Fish Tacos

One of the joys of visiting the Left coast is getting to enjoy the fish tacos at Point Loma Seafood on the day before my trip. Can anyone share what sauce they put on these tacos? Every year when I come back to TN from SD, I have a group from my church come to the house and help us eat the bounty that I bring back. This year, my wife wants to make fish tacos and I need some help on how to add some west coast flavor to them.

Wow, this could be a long thread. This is an oversimplified answer but......

1. I like a sweeter batter so i use a pancake mix as the base of my batter (you can add a little more flour to this and spice your flour mix/pancake mix anyway you like)

2. The secret sauce is variable also, but usually consists of a little mayo, rice vinigear, and thousand island dressing. Some people even add a touch of plain yougurt to their sauce. You have to play with the combination you like.

3. Sliced cabbage, finely chopped roma tomatoes, a little green onion.

Thats the basis for almost all fish taco recipes. There are thousands of variations and i like most of them. Im still enjoying new recipes and i have many many favorites, but the above gets you going in the right direction.

Bon apetite!

Google baja fish taco reciepe and you'll see tons of ways to make the white sauce. Other than that it's just cabbage and pico de gallo and some limes. Corn tortillas (not flour)!

keep it simple... 1 part plain yogurt and 1 part mayonaise. From there you can add whatever spice or seasoning you want. It's fine with just the yogurt and mayo though.

50/50 mayo and sour cream. then get a tin of chipotle chilies in adobo sauce. add chili and sauce to taste- blend together then stir in some lime juice and cilantro leaves. Not what they have at Pt Loma, but this is killer of fish tacos
