Skipjack Tuna

I have some skipjack fillets that I want to cook. Is the skipjack the lowest of the tunas? I was advised to dip the fillets in orange juice to remove some of the oils, before cooking. Do you guys eat this fish or should I just avoid it like the oily barracuda?

Thanks guys, any advise is appreciated.

I grabbed a bunch that nobody wanted on my last overnight trip. I just smoked a bunch of it and it came out great. Same with bonnies. Everybody says they suck, but when bled and cleaned they are great. Try and see if you can smoke those bad boys.

Skipjack is good sashimi, especially as poke. I think the entire state of Hawaii would implode if they didn't have their skipjack.

Raw fish, usually seasoned with sesame oil, soy sauce, and other goodies depending on the recipe. This link gives a general description. If you like raw fish/sushi, you would probably like poke.

Some of the best sashimi and poke out there. They are worth keeping if you can get them bled and on ice.
