Rapala knot in lieu of ringed hook?

Does anyone use or has anyone used the Rapala knot in lieu of a ringed hook for live bait? I'm curious if it's a strong enough knot to use for such an application? Seems like it would work well enough to me??

I use it for freshwater but wouldn't use it for saltwater. I have never really had a big problem with the knot, I just don't trust it for big fish. If you want to use a knot for that purpose, use a San Diego Jam knot and don't cinch it down. It will be much stronger and work just as good.
