Cedros Island fishing.....not by long range boat

found this on the buoyweather.com website, looks pretty appealing to me.......gonna have to check this out in detail:

Cedros Outdoor Adventure S.A.

according to the website, they pick you up in SD, take you to Ensenada where you fly to Cedros and fish......4 days/3 nites for 1200 clams dont sound too bad to me!

anybody tried them?

My co-worker who does not fish often did this trip back in October. Not sure if its the same company, but sounds very similar. Same deal, picked the group up in San Ysidro and off to Ensenada Airport. he said boarding was a breeze, and everything was including except booze and tip.

He was blown away at the yellowtail fishing and how shallow you catch them there. As for the airplane ride, there should not be a problem. Based on my co-worker and the picture shown, the aircraft is a Cessna Caravan, which is a single engine turbo prop. Very reliable aircraft. Its a workhorse plane that is mainly used in Cargo flights. Fed Ex uses these planes to reach smaller remote airports where there masive DC-10's and 767's can't land.

The only issue is the weight limit. Since my co-worker is not a fisherman, he didn't have his own equipment, but his group did bring some rods and gear. I venture to guess that if you fly with the minimum 6-7 people on board and not the 11, weight should not be a factor. He also brought back fish, but don't know how much.

I too am intrested in something like this, especially during the fall months. Maybe a BD group trip?

Sounds pretty cool, I was in touch with a pilot at the end of the year who said he should have planes in place to leave out of Palomar airport in Carlsbad, touch down in Ensenada then take off to San Quintin and or Cedros, Loreto etc... The rates he hoped to charge were pretty reasonable for four...I'll check back in with him and report. Either way, I am doing this trip this year! No driving in Baja doesn't have to mean no Baja.
