| Trolling for YFT vs Albacore
Ok folks... my first season on my own sled for chasing footballs...
Any difference in the lures , speed distance for the Yellow Fin Tuna and DoDos vs Albacore..
Also should I always have a larger Bigeye Lure hanging shotgun wayback????

Yellowfin do love cedar plugs. As for speed and pattern I dont change things up.Lots of people have different opinions about all this.I like trolling almost always close to the boat, with maybe a sotgun set a little further back.Yellow Fin Tuna will generally hit somewhat larger lures then the albies.but you know alot of that has to due with the size of the fish.I was trolling on the way back from Guadalupe a few years ago with a 10 inch style marlin lure and got hit by a 186 pound big eye fairly close to the boat, between 2nd and 3rd wave. The last few years the Yellow Fin Tuna have been chewin anything with pink in it,may change this year may noy.I know i will start the season with pinks.

| Bigger Stuff
I agree with Jack. I've kicked ass on Yellow Fin Tuna on the BM trolling the Daisy Chain Cedar Plug. Outfished the other bigger zukers and shit 4 to 1. We did do pretty good on the big zukers though on other occasions. The smaller feathers seem to work for the footballs (kinda like the size we saw 3 or 4 years ago fish under 10 pounds but fairly abundant). The past few years the yellow fin seems to have been a little larger and the big stuff worked well. Go with the cedar plug trolled shotgun down the middle way back.

Bigeye are nocturnal feeders. Trolling large lures before grey light will improve your chances.

| They look killer, they work killer. but...........
I hate using those things! I know many guys love em, and I own my fair share, but its one of the last things I put in my spread when fishing tuna.
