Reverse albright or WormKnot is what you want..Tie up a Bimini and then wrap the bimini up your mono about 10 turns. Then stick the mono through the end loop in the bimini and then slowly pull it up tight. As you do the mono will sprial around the spectra and you have nice cean knot connection..

Heres a link for you. The line is Okay. I really like the knot.

PowerPro - Catch The Power!

Some guys use the Uni knot..

Re: Topshot

I always use standard Albright these days. Say 10-11 wraps, usually 6-7 up and 5-6 down to come back through.

I used to use uni-to-uni, but have had way too many failures.

Always double your spectra with a bimini or spider hitch, as I would suggest that most failures in these connections come from the thin abrasive spectra cutting through the monofilament.

Recently lost what may have been a giant cobia when I started putting heavy heat on it with light tackle about 25 minutes into the fight. This is with braid main line and fluorocarbon leader.. Sure enough, came back with my bimini intact and the braid half of the uni-to-uni, no trace of the leader... Last uni-to-uni I have tied

I'm not a Uni Guy either..Albright or reverse Albright have not failed me yet.
Better yet is the cuff using Hollow spectra with a crip, serve or knot..Much cleaner and 100%..

Re: Topshot

Google tony pena knot. It's what I now use for solid spectra to mono/fluoro. I either use a double overhand or a two turn uni to start. Once the tag end of the spectra is in the created loop, use a glove and wrap the spectra in one hand and wrap the mono/fluoro in the other. Spit on knot and pull. Can cast knot through guides. Strong knot.

It's the same as a blob knot:

only it takes longer and probably eats into the line.

Re: Topshot

I use P-line CXX and uni to uni in 40# is a pretty good size knot. Too big for my tastes.

I use a served loop-to-loop connection on anything 30# and over personally and uni-to-uni on the smaller stuff. I've started using the Tony Pena knot (I thought that it was the Roy Rose know but what do I know).

The worm knot is pretty and low profile. If you can get the mono/flouro out when changing line without having to cut the double in the spectra, I'll start using it exclusively.

Re: Topshot

Uni-Uni is a great knot, but feels like shit going through the guides... considering its bulkiness.

I prefer to tie a Bob Sands Knot, also known as the Roddy Hayes knot.
It retains 100% line strength and is pretty slim. So it feeds though the guides well.

All of my failures have been 15-20 pound power pro with a bimini tied to 25-30 pound seaguar fluorocarbon. Go figure!

As long as you can tie your knots of choice quickly and in low light conditions and/or while you're drunk, and they don't fail too much, that's all that matters

Re: Topshot

When I was using PowerPro Spectra with a Bimini/Yucatan combo (worm knot) on 20-25 lb flouro I broke at the knot. PowerPro SUCKS! Switched to JB (much better) and the knot has a tendency to come undone due to slipperyness of the JB, so watch your knots when they come out of the water. You can retie this in a hurry while fishing if you have to.
