7-10kts 15' to 150' back. some times they will only hit them close to the boat. other times only the long lines.I run 2 short corners(real close)Two about 40'-80' back off the riggers,And one strait down the middle as far back as 150'
so you dont find that short lines are less productive because of the outboards? up here in NH the school Blue Fin Tuna have started to show up in the last couple of years and i am trying to figure out new ways to go after them... live lining seems to be hit or miss. run and gun with everything i have thrown at them (when on the surface) seems to be more miss than hit. i have tried trolling when they arent showing and i havent done a thing. i was wondering if it had to do with the out boards.. i have trolled for lots of giants but this is a totally different game. thanks for the help
They are not fearful of the outboards. As has been mentioned, sometimes they will hit a jig 15' off the stern or way way back. Just remember once you hear the first clicker going off do not stop the boat, continue on for a good 5- 10 second count.
