Will its been years since I've been on a boat but I own 2 now. When I was younger I went on all the sport boats with no problem. Will I was shot in the face so I lost my left eye. My equilibrium is pretty much shot. dramamine doesn't work for me but is there anything else I can use.. Pretty bummed I got 2 boats and can't leave the bay with giving up my lunch..

Scopace. Perscription only from your doctor. It has worked for everyone I have given it to. It is the pill form of the scopolomine patch and allows you to regulate the dose. You can't do that with the patch as it is a regulated amount of medicine absorbed through the skin.
Good luck!

I had the same problem years ago. Asked my doc about it - he said to take the pill (Bonine, Dramamine, etc.) the night before you plan to fish. Then take another the morning you plan to fish and then continue taking it every 4-6 hrs as you fish. This way it gets into your system before you are on the water. I have never been sick since I have been using his method. I hope it works for you. Good luck because we all know how miserable it is to be sea sick.

It's usually $3-4 buck's for two of them, if you get them from your doctor you'll pay about $10.00 plus per patch.
It's the same stuff and works great, I put one behind the ear before I go to sleep.
Or go to your local market and get "Bonine" , also very good. You can take one 1 hour before you go.
I also take mine the night before I go.
Good luck, I know the feeling of getting sick and it's no fun.

My wife gets sea sick pretty easily. She uses Bonine, The patch and always carries Ginger gum. She says the gum works instantly if she starts to feel queezy, and she can take a piece anytime. Gum should be used in combo with pills or patch. You might even try the ginger pills, seem to be as effective as gum just takes longer.

The Patch is best and most $$$ I don't know about the non-prescript ones at the Korean store though. Be Careful as they were taken off the market for quite some time due to problems with the Transdermal delivery system. I stick with the US made ones because they are using the newest transdermal patch. All that said I WILL be looking into the ones at the Korean store and if they are the current version I will buy from them no problem.
Stay away from the little pretty boxes of " Motion sickness" Meds and just go get a bottle of Meclizine (non-commercial name for Bonine and others). you can get a bottle of 100 for around 6 or 7 bucks.
They ALL make me feel like shit but better than pukin all day.
Remember DRINK ALOT of fluids ( Not just beer) with the Patch.

I have an equilibriam issue also, due to a bum left ear. I get very sea sick, I mean real easy. Bonine has always worked for me. Take a pill 24 hours before your trip, and then take another pill a few hours before your trip. It won't make you get drowsy like Dramamine.

I get sea sick easily and ran out of patches for my trip last week. I figured I would just tough it out with Bonine, ginger pills and an electro-shock wrist band, bad decision as I was down in the bunk 1/2 the trip.
Scopolamine is the only thing that works for me. I order them from Canada (OTC up there I guess) and they cost about $5 each.

If you have health insurance the co-pay is $5-$10 for a bottle of scopace. If it doesn't work for you you're out of luck. Ginger gum, lemon drops are helpful for the onset of sickness too...

Back in the early 80's I would puke so much on 1/2 day boats I became famous. Started fishing again 5 years ago and this is what works for me: Bonine when you go to bed and one an hour before you leave (as stated). Those "hippy bands" for the wrist. I also bring ginger ale and ginger tablets. So far so good. If I ever get sick doing this its straight to the Dr's for a patch
Also avoid greasy food and excess booze before you go.
