8/25 Weather

How was it out their today? Is H.Dean bringing any crap to the area? I know the warmer water is coming, but it was anyway, wasn't it about this time last year that all the War water flooded north? AND then the DODO went off. I remember the MAW Tournament last year had like 25 Yellow Fin Tuna or so, it looks like its going to be a bigger tuna event this year.

How was the offshore this morning and afternoon? I also hear bait SUCKS and is getting cooked. Maybe a HUGE 15lb block of ice in each bait tank will help, as long as its in plastic so it doesn't evap as fast...

Re: 8/25 Weather

Most of our bait rolled within 3 hrs in pretty flat water so I know it wasn't from getting beat up. I hear it was pretty much the same story for everyone yesterday. Ice may work, but I think it's just new bait. Time to leave early and catch macs, sounds like they did better anyway.

Re: 8/25 Weather

La Jolla water was about 74 today and a little choppy. I was able to get 4 macks around 7 am and then the bait bite died off for me. There were quite a few people out there struggling to make bait.

I passed a kayaker with a very nice sized yellowtail and another kayaker with a nice-sized calico. I had something biting out in front of the white condos but was not able to bring them in. Lost one of my live baits to "something" out there and the other macks were not getting bit. I got several bites on the plastics but like I said, couldn't keep the fish on the hook.

I had a great time out there and ran into a lot of nice people. The overcast sky, 1-2 foot waves at the launch and landing, and slight wind made for a nice day on the water for me.
