To change you IP

Heres a cool deal if you ever want to change your IP.
go here: http://www.antiproxy.com/proxysearch.php

The best HTTP proxies usually are either 3128 or 8080 ones, so choose either one of those from the drop down list. Find one with a low latency in the list, and click Check to see if it's running. When you find one that is up and running, copy the address of it to your clipboard, and in Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Settings, (LAN settings if you use Cable or DSL) then check the box that says use proxy server. Click on advanced, and in the HTTP Proxy box, paste the address of the working proxy you found, and in the Port box, put the port number (as I said, it will most likely be 3128 or 8080) Either way, the proxy's port will be listed right there on the site. Its that easy. Now you can change your ip whenever you need to. Wow I'm turning into a techno geek line Banman.

brainhurting

Holy crap, Max, do you spend all of your time taking evening classes or on the shitter reading computer magazines?? I haven't heard stuff like that since I got out of grad school (brain's been going downhill even since). I hope you're on the water when my electronics decide to go on strike----you might be able to fix them with a pop-top and part of a Pringles can.

an IP identifies your computer - it changes if you use a service like AOL (different each time you log on). If you have an always-on service, like DSL or a cable modem, it is static, i.e., doesn't change.

You can be tracked via your IP address; you leave a trail wherever you go on the 'net.

If you want extra privacy, you change it to keep the black helicopters from finding you.
