Tuna tools

Here's something to help those headed out to get some tuna on Friday. Finally getting the boat wet tomorrow for the first time since the big fires last year. I'll be listening on the radio from La Jolla as you guys load up on the tuna! Can't wait to get back offshore. Wahhooooo!!!

If you want to dial up your own temp charts from coastwatch try this link. http://www.tempbreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=157 You can hit "P" for previous and "N" for next when viewing the SST and you will get a 3d bottom contour the fades in georeferenced and all synced up.

Thanks for the nice feedback. If any of you are thinking, "Man, if that guy would only add this one cool feature!" Well, now is a great time to give me your ideas. I have a ton of ideas, but I'm sure some of you have got even better ones and those will shoot right to the top of my priority list.

Pretty soon I will be reading and exporting GTM files. Check out the program at http://www.gpstm.com The neat thing is this program works with just about every gps out there. Anyway, one feature I was thinking would be cool is if we got guys to upload their tracklogs to tempbreak.com along with the waypoints they saved for the day. I could then store them in a searchable database for you and you can essentially have a database of all of your trips correlated against the SST of your choice. You could then allow everyone, or just a group of buddies to view your tracklogs. It would be kinda of funny to see the zigs and zags of 5 different people on the same day crossing paths. One thing I think you will see is Person A will say, "Caught fish until 9am and then it dried up". Person B will say, "Fish didn't come up until around 10am.". Then you will look at the log and Person A will be trolling out of the zone at 9am, and person B will trolling into the zone.

Oh yeah, I fished La Jolla yesterday 5/7 and it was slow for us in the morning at low tide so we went maybe 15 miles offshore looking for paddys. Just a couple dry ones. Caught a couple lings and assorted other stuff off Hill Street after that, but the main goal was to work out the bugs so the boat is ready to chase tuna on our next trip. I kinda miss all the, "When do you think the albacore will show?" questions. Maybe someone should start a, "When will the first dorado be caught? thread.
