Eastern Sierra

Can anyone give me some suggestions for camping/fishing spots in the Sierra? We'll be going in mid August, driving a 24' motorhome with a Samurai tow car. I 'm thinking about Kennedy Meadows for the first stop then points north. I am concerned about road conditions. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Eastern Sierra

Take a look at the June Lake loop. Silver Lake, June Lake, Gull all are great fishing and have campgrounds at them or close by. All of these lakes are within a couple of miles of each other. They can be crowded during the summer, but if you arrive midweek you will find a spot. We stay two weeks every year at Lundy Lake. Great fishing but the privately owned campground is mostly tent sites. Hard to get a motor home in some sites, although I get my 23' trailer in. Mill Creek runs out of Lundy Lake and it has a campground along its banks where I see a lot of larger units . Good fishing for planted rainbows. We like Lundy because it is less crowded. I have been going there since I could walk.
Other Lakes you can research on the web.

Twin Lakes
Sabrina
Virgina Lakes
Mammoth Lakes.
I have day fished these, but never stayed there.

PS The drive up to Kennedy Meadows will be harder then getting to any of these lakes. Its a hard pull from 395 up to Kennedy. Hope this helps.
Send me a PM if ou want more info on this area.

Big Pine. One of my favorites. 2 campgrounds at the top of the hill next to Big Pine Creek. Stay there and/or hike up to the lakes about 2 hours away.

Re: Eastern Sierra

Go on up to Bridgeport, take the road up to Twin Lakes, campground at Lower Twin Lakes abd at Mono Village at Upper Twin.

Good roads all the way to the campgrounds, you'll love it.

Re: Eastern Sierra

Virginia Lakes just south of Bridgeport. No prettier spot in the Eastern Sierras. I practically grew up in the area. Several great campgrounds in the area (Trumbull Lake is awesome!) and lots of lakes and streams withing a short walk, all full of trout. There is a small lodge with a little store and a resteraunt. Everything you need.

Re: Eastern Sierra

Thanks for the info. I'll try a few of these spots as they're not too far apart. We've been to Twin Lakes Bridgeport many times and loved it. We hope to do lots of fishing and exploring. Thanks again Bros.
