Just wanted to let you know that the Long Beah Bait Company's receiver is up and running with a well of live squid and two wells of sardine. We've got the Provider out at Catalina making another load of squid tonight and they will come back and try to make a load of anchovy before tomorrow morning.
With that, we should have all of your bait needs covered for Memorial Day Weekend! We've got Martin manning the receiver and you can contact him on Channel 11 or at (562) 455-9928.
If you aren't passing through the Long Beach harbor, we have the Long Beach Carnage set up just east of Avalon on the front side of Catalina with a full load of live squid. G Paul is on the boat and he will be there all weekend.
You can contact Paul on channel 11 or at (562) 714-8103.
You can also check our blog for up to date bait information at

Here are some photos from today of the new receiver....

Our receiver is the one with no nets and no lovely trailer park homes. Look for the tan house with black trim.

Or just look for the neon green "LIVE SQUID" sign...

Come by and see Martin. He speaks perfect english and doesn't mind being woke up in the middle of the night. (if he does seem to mind, please PM me immediately...).

Martin spends the winter months working on a purse seiner named the "Misty Moon", so he's used to big scoops of bait. Come and get yours before he gives away the store...

We've got plenty of squid!

Our receiver is BIG! This picture shows 9 of the 15 wells that we have and will put to good use in curing bait for the upcoming season. No more of the red nosed, scaleless sardines that your used to from some of the net welled receivers in the harbor.
A couple more random shots.
Finally, don't forget to stop by and see Paul on the Long Beach Carnage if you're looking for bait at Catalina this weekend.
I'd like to thank everyone that's stopped by the receiver already. It was great to hear such positive feedback and we look forward to seeing you on the water!
