Talking Shimano Trevala TVC-66MH or TVC-66M

I wish comments on these two rods in order to choose the correct one. The reel is a Cabo PT 60 and will be wearing 50lb. braid. Jigging mostly for tuna, wahoo, dorado and bottom dweling species on the drop.

Buy the heaviest trevala, I have a medium and a heavy and I only use the heavy rod as they are all real light with little backbone.

Re: Shimano Trevala TVC-66MH or TVC-66M

I'd get a TVC58XXH, TVC58XH or at least a TVC66H. Like Afry says, they are more parabolic than "stiff" rods but are very comfortable as stand-up rods when jigging for big fish like amberjack, cubera, etc. that pull hard and deep. I use these with a Torsa 20 spooled with 80# Power Pro Spectra with a 100# P-Line topshot. Works well for me using 26#-29# of drag pressure in the rocks of Panama and other places.

Re: Shimano Trevala TVC-66MH or TVC-66M

I have the TVC-66MH-2 w/ trini 16N. As far as back bone goes they do seem to go bendo big time BUT they also shut off at a certain point and have some pretty good pull. PS I wouldnt mind another trevala in a heavvy.
