trolling for yellows- sorry for the double post couldnt find the first one
ok so im wondering what is the best way to troll rapala magnums for yellows is. ive been told that you have to troll with a torpedo sinker 5 to 6 feet ahead of the lure, because with out the weight the lure will jump out of the water. is this true ? also should i keep the treble hooks, of switch them out for tuna hooks ? any other advice ?
I don't use weight, but I generally don't troll magnums faster than 7-8 kts. Never had a problem with them jumping out of the water.
I keep the back treble hook but take off the front treble. I don't think that I miss any without the front treble and it is much easier to get ahold of the lure when the fish is at the side of the boat. Works great for me.
