Scopase; Scopalimine Tablets for Seasickness

Has anybody tried the Scopace tablets for seasickness prevention/treatment? I never used to get sick but these last couple years I've had a touch of that shit. I've only gacked once out of 3 occurences but gacking or not, it sucks to feel shitty. I've done the OTC remedies and usually just take a half a tablet but what sucks is you gotta take the shit well before the symptoms and that stuff makes me feel stupid.

I talked to an MD that was at Fred Hall LB from Hope Pharmeceuticals and he said they had instances where patients took the stuff when they started feeling shitty and they supposedly experienced relief. I'm not talking tabout the Scopalimine Transdermal Patch but the pill itself. I just had my Doc dial me in on a script which I just picked up. My local Long's Pharmacy had no information on it and I knew more about it than the Pharmacist. I'm Guinea Piggin' for him now.

I'm curious to hear if any others have had experience with it yet?

Bonnine brand at the 99 cents store. I hope that works. P.S. they sell it at the Landings for around 7 dollars. or you can go to a 99 cents store and get 2 boxes for 99 cents and they come with a coupon for 1.00$ off .Scopamine might be better so you better try it instead. I don't want you puking on your next fishing trip...

I use the patches, but heard the scop pills are better for less side effects. The patch makes me have an incredible thirst. Not that I don't have that already but they give me a horrible cotton mouth. The other OTC pills just make me tired. I'm looking for something else too.

I've used it for about two years now, works great except for some dry mouth but I'm supposed to drink lot's of water (diabetic/heart trouble) so that takes care of that problem.
I usually take them about a half hour before going on the boat (1/2-3/4 day), generally they last from 6-8 hours. Another thing that seems to work well for my son is ginger tablets, me I take both the ginger and the scopace otherwise I'd be traveling by rail! (the boat rail that is.)

I have had problems driving on the scop patchs. Running red lights missing stop signs. I let my son drive when I take them..

Re: Scopase; Scopalimine Tablets for Seasickness

Ive got the scopace pills. Much better then the patch and cheaper too. The beginning of the season I'll take 1 then ween myself down to 1/2 then none at all. The nice thing is that you can take more or less depending on how you react to it. The patch, well you just get Scoped out. Costco in Santee carries it.

BTW you can take it if you start feeling bad and it will work within 1/2 hour.

That's what intrigued me most about Scopace. I'm pretty sure that I have adopted some inner ear issue as I have become older. I've been on the water for 40 of my 45 years from small boats to Carriers and I even fly airplanes and never had an issue until boating about 2 years ago when it hit me most unexpectedly up here on a fishing trip out on one of our Central Coast washing machine days. I don't have a problem every time I go out, it's just rarely. Did a couple 2 and 3 day sporties last season and had a mild case on one of those runs. They were steaming brocolli for dinner in a fuckin' HOT cabin with no A/C on and all the portals closed due to heavy seas and spray. I just about died I was feeling so shitty but I never gacked, I missed the fuckin' brocolli and dinner though. I took the OTC shit and and hit my rack and was fine in a couple hours but I feel like I'm on 'ludes or something and can't play my 'A' game when under the influence. I don't want to medicate and be under the influence during an entire trip unless I need it.

Re: Scopase; Scopalimine Tablets for Seasickness

Go by the local health food type store and get some candied ginger, have seen it work well on 2-3 day dive trips. And I carry it just cause it tastes good. You can always revert to the drugs if it does not work for you.
