Yup Scopace is the scopalamine patch in a pill form. I never tried half a pill, in fact most of the time I had to take a second one. Now I will say that most of last summer I was also on heavy doses of prednisone and vicodin too, but not all the time. The affects were the same. I mean it came down sometimes to having to sleep instead of fish. But I have the same problem with the patch. Went on an ON last year and slept the entire day. Fishing sucked, but I just had to sleep. So it may just be me. They keep telling me Im special

I took Meclizine HCL in the Navy and found it in smaller pharmacies. It's pretty cheap when you find it. It has the advantage of small doses that you can ramp up or down as you see fit. I just haven't tried anything else except Bonine, which sucks, and don't know what to compare it too... I guess I'm looking for something new.
ANYTHING, cottonmouth, tired, etc beats hanging on the rail chumming the water. Any thoughts?

Also wandering if the wrist bands or special motion sickness watches work? I got sick once last year, chuming early morning coffee and donuts.

Scopace works great for me. One pill to start and I may take another after 8 hours if it's rough. It does not make me as drowsy as the OTC stuff either.

I have read somewhere that ginger, that some have mentioned works well. For those who use it or have used it, does it work? Where can you get the pill form?

There is only one thing that cures and prevents sea sickness and never fails.

Re: Scopase; Scopalimine Tablets for Seasickness

I`m a real sea sicky. Can get sick in the bay. The patch works fine, just turns me into a zombie!! The scopace pill is perfect. Take 1 on a normal day, or 1/2 on the calmer days, and no more feeling like shit. BUT when I go home and lie down, it feels like I want to sleep for days. Botton line-- stuff works great, less side effects than the patch. Can`t reccomend it enough!!

Re: Scopase; Scopalimine Tablets for Seasickness

here's my take:

i can never figure out when/how/why she gets sick, but she does. we have a prayer bag that has everything. I MEAN EVERYTHING. i.e. ginger candy, Meclizine,Bonine, the patch, sprays, the band, etc, etc, etc. AND THEY ALL DON'T WORK WITH ANY CONSISTENCY!!

she now use the scopalomine pill known as Scopace. SHE SWEARS BY IT!

HERE'S THE HITCH!

i make sure she starts the routine 24hrs in advance!!! that way its in her system and it allows her body to acclimate to the chemical. she may sleep the day away, but when it's time to board the boat, she's normal and fishes the following morning w/o being sick. >>>>>>> SO FAR SO GOOD <<<<<<
