Better have a diesel
I have not made the trip myself but one thing is certain.
If you can't find the distance, don't make the run.

I believe your looking at 210 miles south/southwest of SD - it lies about 150 miles off the Baja Coast.
Depending on the fuel capacity in your Whaler - I'd guess a stop in Ensenda for fuel and some barrells.
I've made plenty of lower 500 trips and a few Cortez bank runs on my boat - but have only been to the lupe on the long range - would be a hell of an adventure - good luck.

Let me know when you are going. I've been threatening that trip for a while. I won't be able to help you with fuel though. The only gas on my boat will be for the generator and the stuff eak'n out'a my butt from all the microwave chili.

Damn, I've always calculated Guadelupe at 5/8 weiner distance and figured it was just out of range! Wait a minute...are you using a Hebrew National or a standard frank?

San Quintin would be the closest land port. I got a p.m. from (Finology II). He is Planning on making this trip in the fall from San Quintin on his cat. you might want to contact him. there was a guy that tried it from San Quintin a couple year's ago in his Grady, only to be turned back at the 90 mi mark due to bad weather that came up out of nowhere. from the point at San Quintin to the island I believe is 130 mi.

I believe you have to have special permits to fish the area now as well. On the Rooster last year we all had to were wrist bands showing we had paid the extra permit fee. Might want to look into it. Chad
