Braid to Floro

I fish braid on all my reels and put 100+ yards of mono on top. I use the Bimini to albright and they work great. Never had a problem

Im ready to start fishing straight spectra to floro. About 5 yards of floro. My problem is the knots are too big to cast them through the guides easily.

What (small) knot would you guys reccomend.

I want this advantage for cbass fishing in the kelp.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Braid to Floro

Don't wind your leader past the tip, and you won't have this problem no matter how a big a knot you tie. A uni to uni should work fine, and also resolve your problem. It's a small knot and passes thru most guides easily.

Re: Braid to Floro

Albright. Just make sure to wind the spectra over the mono. NOT the other way around.

'nuff said.

fingercuff it with hollow. You won't even feel it go through the guides.

How many times around on the albright? And do you use a little glue at the end?

Re: Braid to Floro

Uni-Uni is about the smallest and easiest...

Although all of my buddies in FL use an Albright like Mike described, spectra over mono....

25-30 turns, and rather than glue you can do a clinch knot to tie off the spectra.

Re: Braid to Floro

50lbs and up either the serve or crimp for this kid.
40lbs and down, uni to uni.

i'm looking into serving light line/hollow. i tried the crimp for light line and didn't have the success i was looking for. the guys at Blackwater showed me how to serve a topshot.

light line applications with fuji guides can be a problem unless you keep the topshots very short and past the tip as mentioned above.
