Sturgeon Report Card

I picked up my Sturgeon report card yesterday from the DFG, some may ask why I did that when I fish in SD county. According to the new regulation you must have a sturgeon report card to record information weather or not the sturgeon is kept or released. Since Lake Cuyamaca contains white sturgeon and I fish there, sometimes targeting white sturgeon, I figured I needed one

The question is if you are fishing at Lake Cuyamaca and you do not have a report card for Sturgeon are you in violation of the new reg if you catch and release one? I just called and they say no, but according to the regs???

You are suppose to keep everything you catch except for SMB and sturgeon that are not in the slot limit of 46" to 66" because the DFG rules apply to the sturgeon and SMB they want the population to get established. If it was totally private then you would not need a license but you do Also all the regs for freshwater apply limits etc.
