jesus manny...if you regularly do those cat/sci trips in your skiff, you could hit the 1010 (61 miles)...its the same mileage curve (roughly). in my skiff i ALWAYS buddy out and back that far. that's a long hike, with no place to hide if it gets nasty out.
a trip to the inner banks is wind/wave/swell dependant. DONT go on shit days. be smart...killing fish is not worth dyin for.

Talked with Ali, and was told that my 20' power cat was a regular at the 1010 last year.
As Vince says it's all about the weather.. swell and wind is the killer, not the distance.
Figure I'll be seeing you out that way this season.

Deep Breathe in ........and Out.......... 1010/295 is a long ways out there, in any boat from San Diego. The Weather can get ugly fast with nowhere to wait it out like Vince said. Boat Ho it or there is always the Coral @ Ensenada. Hang in there Brudda, if this really is the start of the Season in March, It could be one of the best seasons on record. Stay Alive and find out. Frank

Manny, I've been on Josh's boat, an 18' bayliner cuddy out as far as 10 miles behind SCI from LB. Caught 9 albies that day. Never felt in danger. Weather wasnt to great either.....

I fish 98% of the time on Kep's 17' Parker. 390 is our usual run. 60 mile bank or 213 on a flat day. We get wet. As long as we catch fish to fill the bow it makes an easy ride home in chop.
Then you have wildcat. 18' parker that was a regular at the 1010/220/213 etc.
Jim Day in his 14' Western aluminum...
Chesapeake Chuck 22' Bayrunner flat bottom...
Pick your days and you'll be fine. Remember South is a bad direction. Easy to go down in but a bitch to come back up hill. Rockpile runs can be one of the worse.

| thanks guys
.........the distance is not a problem , I felt comfortable at the 390 , wasn't quite sure about going farther , didn't want to ask if some one would buddy boat and look like a jackass if it was to far ( 1010 )
looks like theres plenty of buddy boaters here in small rigs , any body have the numbers to Ensanada Harbour ? thinking that might be a place to hide if needed .

It all depends on what you are comfortable with. I'd do the 390 on a calm day with no worries. If its snotty out, I dont want to push it past the 371, 425 range. I know Jim did it in my boat but for me I'm not gonna go as far as the 1010, 220 etc. I know my boat would keep me safe, I just dont want to run that far in a center console. Just a comfort issue. Besides I know plenty of folks with bigger boats that I can jump on. That is what this board is all about.
