Re: topwater popper availability

bought this thing some years back @ Bob's bait&tackle, obviously they're no longer around. made for salt. heavy through wire, solid resin construction. concave face. called a "pili popper". doesn't float though, so you gotta keep it workin. fun stuff. have to break it out this year, kinda forgot about it till now. i've seen them in catalogs. you might call Noah's, though i don't remember seeing one there. also might try Blue water in solana beach.

Re: topwater popper availability

I suggest replacing the stock trebles with Owner 4x Stingers. Preferably braze the hook on if you can or know someone. Split ring works too. Guy at ringedhooks can braze em for you too.

Fish turn or miss the top water allot and the Owner stingers pin fish, mouth, gill, gut, eye, ect, damn sharp and strong. I have bent the little yozuri trebles a few times even on WFO Albacore.

If you do replace with owner stingers, do not go too big or the popper will sink, heavier gauge hook.

Just a suggestion, I switched all of mine over and designated skip jigs and IMO they pin more fish.

Dana Landing has a bunch in their bargain bin and a good selection of others.

I was surprised to see them there.

Re: topwater popper availability

Pili's are a ton of fun, when I was working on the boats I would use the shit out of them. Tuna cant stand to leave them alone. SOOOOOOO much fun. If Noah's dosent have them go to Fisherman's Landing
