| SCI Mooring availability/ Spots
Can anyone tell me how to get information on SCI mooring areas and how to verify the Navy will NOT be bombing the place when I intend to go? Planning a Dec 28th to Dec 30th Cod/bug fest. Any buddy boaters interested?
Thanks in advance.
Erik

No moorings for private boaters on SCI.
You can call one of the SCORE range managers on SCI for areas that are open or not @ 619 313 2451 ,2,3.
They will not "recommend" you "moor"/anchor anywhere around the Island. Looks like the 2 ends of the island are open for those dates.
Always call and verify openings. Make sure you check the weather. Today it is blowin hard out of the NE and swells are breaking in Wilson cove.
You need to learn what areas are restricted at SCI. Look on you NOAA charts.
We have lost 4 vessels,3 fishing, 1 blow boater and 3 people all recreational divers out here this year, all non military.
Be safe not stupid.

Thank you Balboa 29, great website. I'm assuming the days in green are the ones to avoid? Thanks J Graham for the info, I'll try not to be stupid. Sounds like the best bet is to anchor at Catalina.
Dear Gaffmaster, Please PM number if you would be so kind. Feel free to throw in any bug/cod spots if appropriate or do you want to go?

I also anchor at pyramid, if you need details send a PM to Full Tilt, he is the local expert on San Clemente Island.

We've anchored all over the isle. Not a problem, just make sure to pick your days. Winter time calls for careful weather planning. Front side is great for anchoring, sometimes better than the head. Closures can happen anytime over there, so be ready to change plans (Catalina) if nessesary.

Bill, You running south at that time with Ross? Thought about Colnett, just thought it would be nicer at one of the Islands and I could try to get some bugs.
