| S.D. Habour Police checking Lobster
Just wented to inform everyone a little run in we had last time we went lobstering. We launch from Dana Landing and went out hopping. Had a tough night, but manage a good score of leagl lobsters. On our way back into Dana Landing, we noticed a squad car sitting up at the launch ramp. Once we pulled up to the dock, the officer where on us like glue. They where checking for lobster, and checking to make sure they where all legal. They said they where helping out the DFG since they are so short handed and can't sit just at one launch ramp and check everyone. Go figure. Also on that note to, they questioned me about how much I had to drink that night. My reply was, look I am just backing the trailer into the water and my dad is the one who is driving, so ask him how much he had to drink? Nothing came of that, but a little harrasement from them. If anything, just wanted to give everyone a heads up out there.

Good job on the Bugs. I dont think I would consider what happened to you harrassment though. Lots of BS going on out there, poaching shorts, robbing commercial gear etc. I would consider what happened a sign that the good guys are doing thier job. I get checked like that everytime they are @ the ramp and want to be seen.

Ya, it is good that they are out here, but it is just wierd having PD check you. The harrasement was more about the drinking. I thought I was done and they where going to haul me away, but they did not.
As far as lobster fishing this year, it has been tough. Had to work real hard, and put in some long nights, to get a good score of legals.

| Re: S.D. Habour Police checking Lobster Ive had the Coasties check my bugs too. Seems no one ever checks the Asshole in SD bay that drops right on top of your set with 15 of his hoops {limit is 10 hoops, with 2 guys} But thats another story.

If I recall correctly, is that not the area/ramp where several trucks w/boat trailers have been stolen? I think we want them in that area. If we're all on the up and up...there should be no reason one would be worried about being checked!

No it is good that they are there. I don't mind being checked everytime I come back in.

Don't be over the limit BAC driving a boat or 'backing' a trailer. If you do they can legally haul you off as both are considered driving (and they are right). Even sitting in the cab with the keys near is enough to get busted.
You DON'T want a Deuce this day and age.

My buddy got a DUI on BLM land while driving his golf cart in the trailer park... no bull shit and it went on his driving record and almost cost him his job... Driving a boat drunk can lose you your drivers license too...
Life used to be so much more fun...

Hooray for the P.D.
Drinking and driving, stealing trucks, poaching, shorts, etc. needs to be stopped! I for one am glad they are trying to do something about it.
Jason, if you had been drinking and you were behind the wheel you desrve to be harassed - if so, you were lucky they let you slide. Think twice next time.
