| Seaguar knot vs Ball Bearing Swivel?
I noticed most of you seem to tie your fluro directly to your mono using a seaguar knot. Is there an advantage of this over using a ball bearing swivel to connect the line to leader? I would imagine the swivel would reduce the twisting of the line. no?

Advantage? yes basically one less connection.Plus the bait doesn't have to drag around a swivel. Some of the swivels edges are so sharp they'll cut thru your line pronto.I go uni-uni just 'cause I'm comfortable with it.

depends on the scenerio.... if I have 1 rod for flippin' bait, and another for slow-trollin', the bait flipper gets the seaguar, and the slowtroller gets the swivel.
If I only bring 2 rods with me when I ho(1 bait and 1 jigstick), then I go seaguar on the bait stick and re-tie often and make sure I untwist my line after slow-trolling.

A lot of guys go this route, just don't watch Ed...his reels are on backwards and so are his knots, but he slays the fish |

Do any of you guys use the Blood Knot?
For joining two lines together.
I've used it with success.

I use the albright knot for spectra to mono and mono to fluro. Never had it fail.

I use the Seaguar for flylining because it's strong, and I can tie it faster than any other knot I use. In fact, I usually keep several leaders of fluoro pre-tied to hooks (especially on a sport boat) for quick re-tying during ripper bites. It gets me back in the game much faster than trying to tie a hook on, and it ensures that I'm always using fluoro, rather than blowing it off during a bait stop re-tie.

I'm still learning around these parts but I do like the seaguar knot so far. I can see where ya'll are comming from with using a swivel, but like Produceman said, one less connection not using a swivel. Adam thats a good idea about having several leaders with hooks tied prestaged and ready to go. Will have to try that. Tightlines ya'll.
