Re: torium 20

Rough guestimate should be around 225 yds or so. It holds 420 yds of 20, and 300 yds of 25 according to the specs. Your friend may want to go with the 30 for line capacity, or consider a little spectra backing on the 20. You never know when something bigger than expected might jump on the line, and 225 of 30 might not get 'er done. Hope this helps...have a good one.

Re: torium 20

Here is a quick formula to help you figure out line capacity

Take the listed capacity for the reel;

Torium 20

300 yds of 25#
Multiply 300 x 25 = 7,500

Divide 7,500 by the size line you want

7,500 / 30 = 250 yds of 30 #

Formula is yds x test = Total
divide total by the new test = new total

40 # would be around 187.50 yds.......almost 2 football fields.

To do spectra is very easy

65# spectra is the same as 18 #test mono so the formula would be

300 x 25 = 7,500 / 18 = 416.67 yds
Now minus the spectra you want say 300 yds of 65 pound

416.67 - 300 = 116.67 x 18 = 2100 divided by 30 and you end up with a 70 yd top shot of 30 pound mono.

Now that you are totally confused....reread the formula....it is very easy once you get the idea

hope that helps
