Smile Paddy Etiquette & Technique

I have been reading alot of posts lately about people running over paddies, coming in with out asking and so on. Asking if it's okay to slide in on an already occupied paddy is a the only right thing to do, but what about if you are invited in? What is the right technique, boat placement, distance from paddy, orientation in relation to other boats etc. I have been fishing for a few years now, but only recently from private boats and I have got to admit that I don't really know exactly what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Tight lines!!Click the image to open in full size.

Re: Paddy Etiquette & Technique

ask the boat inviting you in where they want you. The've drifted the paddy (obviously ) and will know where you should set up.

What he said, no more then idle speed within 100 yards or more. Have your gear set up, no slamming hatches etc. I leave my diesels running on the Med and it doesn't seem to matter, I shut off the outboard on my skiff but don't restart anywhere near the paddy. Just make sure your drift is right, the worst thing that could happen is you find your self drifting to close to the paddy and then restart.
