Cow belts?

I will enjoy the taunts from the guys who fish the rail, but what do the seasoned fighting belt guys recommend for cow tuna? I used Andy Cates belt on by trip on the Rooster and it was great. I thought it was aluminum with a foam backed padding. Where do I get one?

Is there a custom builder in San Diego? I have seen the plastic ones break in action and want no part of that. It has to be aluminum or some other composite substance, but no plastic for me to even consider buying it.

Thanks for the feedback,

Re: Cow belts?

I really like the Braid belts, but they are "plastic". Being in Nashville, you will have a hard time finding anything local. Smitty's seem to be very popular, but I did not like the feel of Smitty's spider harness. Some guys will combine a smitty belt with a braid harness. The important part is getting one that fits. Charkbait has a good bit of info on both smitty's and braid.

Try Norm Taniguchi, he has building quality butt plates for years.

Re: Cow belts?

Thanks guys. I saw brand new braid belts destroyed last year on something like cow number 2. Scary shit. I've read the charkbait website until it is burned into my brain. I just don't think the smitty's are what I am looking for. I would love to work with somebody and have a custom built. A little wider would be ideal.

I'll check Norm out.

Anybody else?

Thanks again,
