Detroit MI Fishing?

Can anyone give me any info about fishing in Detoit MI?

I'm going on a 10 day trip to Detroit MI (first time there) in early August to help my great aunt with repairs around her house. I'll be working most of the time, it's going to be hot, sticky and I'll be in the ghetto. I was hoping to brighten up my trip with a bit of fishing.

If anyone can help me out, please let me know. Any info would help. Species, locations, tackle/gear, charters? I'm also looking online for additional info.

Thanks! -Crystal

If you want to travel about 3 hrs to the west coast I can give you some charter info. What do you want to fish for? Much nicer area out by Grand haven or Holland. Get some bike lake perch.Theres some great sand dunes and beaches. You can fish off the piers

I don't think I am up for a 3hr drive ( I already know my family is going to give me a hard time for fishing, when I should be working on the house) I was hoping to catch some of the fish that we don't have out here, but honestly, I'll catch anything that'll bite.
I don't know much about fresh water fishing, I've only been FW fishing for Trout, LM Bass, Bluegill, Stripers and Sturgeon... Other than those guys, I'm clueless, especially in new territory.

I'm doing my homework and looking into all those suggestions. Thanks Guys!
Cheers!
