A friend of mine that has been wrapping rods for about 30 years is gonna wrap a few for me. I need to know where I can get the best deal on Seeker blanks or anyone that the folks here might suggest.

byeye talk to mr.limpet. BTW IMO calstar makes better blanks. Seekers are a 1 out of 5 chance of getting a decent blank with the right backbone. I've fished with both and prefer the calstars. If you want to try a calstar graphiter or glass you can borrow one of mine. I also have a seeker glass/graphite that you can try.

Thanks Jason, I like the Calstars as well. I have 2 of them now and wanted to add a couple of Seekers to my small collection (of unused rods and reels, )..

Seeker 660 and 865's on sale at Squidco for dirt cheap. Honey color. Easy to look and make sure they are straight. Then just flex and roll (see rodbuilding forum) to check for a good dominant spine. With respect to Jason I have never found their quality to be so bad that only 1 in five is good. If you look them over for a minute they are all pretty good. I do like Cal Stars just a wee bit better (quality control) but I have built dozens of Seekers and had no problems. They are still good rods IMO and I highly doubt you will ever break one on a fish. They are a bit softer than their equally numbered Calstars so keep that in mind. The new ones are really sweet.

Okay okay. 1 out of 5 blanks have the backbone I personally like. The rest are noodles IMO. Seeker makes nice halibut sticks.

No disagreement there Jason. They are not as stiff. I just tell my guys to fish one line class down, or at least fish the lower range of the rating with Seekers. For example a 870 is a 20# rod and a 270 is a 15# rod.
