Need feedback on the Orion or Renegade

Hey gang,

I'm thinking about chartering the Orion or Renegade out of Seaforth Landing for an SCsurffishing.com charter.

I've never fished either. Anybody have any comments about either of these boats? Just planning on doing an overnighter.

Any comments would be greatly appeciated. If you want to avoid getting hammered over no so flattering remarks, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks!

Re: Need feedback on the Orion or Renegade

Hmmmm Them boats are in two different classes. Orions a little guy, Renegade is the full size model. Not really a fair comparison. I guess its how many people your takin? I doubt you'll hear one bad thing about the capt. or crew of either of these boats.

I know I truly enjoy fishing with Doug Reed, the owner of the Renegade.

Re: Need feedback on the Orion or Renegade

Thanks for the comeback guys.

We are open to 20 folks or possibly more coming. The bigger boat has the obvious advantage to accomodating more folks.

I'm more curious about the ride, the experience of the crew, the captain's respective ability to find the fish, etc.

We'd rather go with a smaller boat (and smaller charter group) if the captain is "better" or works harder to find the fish. However if the bigger boat has the better crew/captain, I'm sure we could find a few extra folks to keep the costs comparable.

I second the RENEGADE due to the fact I know Reed and what he will due to provide the best possible trip. Great captain, and even a better guy, plus I dont know shit about the Orion!!!!!!

Re: Need feedback on the Orion or Renegade

Both Boats are good, JR and bill own the orion, single scew boat I believe gets jig bit better than the Renegade, However the renegade is the much nicer boat and Reed is an abslolute stud when fishing Blue Fin Tuna. Twenty people + makes the renegade the best choice. less than 20 the orion will not dissapoint you.
