| Let's Talk Hook-up
I was just listening to the radio program "Lets Talk Hook-Up" when a caller called in with comments surrounding T-sharks and conservation. His question was if the hosts Pete Gray and Mark Wish thought that we were overfishing the resource and made somewhat derogatory comments about the postings on Bloody Deck!! Pete was the first one to jump on board and condemn the fishing saying that these guys should be strung up, and Mark was right along with him until he realized what he was saying, then he started to back peddle saying that some of them come up dead sometimes and that could justify taking more than one. Considering that both these guys make their living off of the backs of fisherman and have certainly fished and killed more than their share, I find it somewhat hypocritical that they would condemn somebody who was well with in the law. Not all of us can afford to take 18 day fishing trips catching 300 lb cows. Shark fishing is one of the big game fish located closer to shore and within reach of our limited financial resources. I say they should shut the hell up, If we are within our legal rights it is none of their business. |

Don't get so heated up. Pete did not say they should string some one up until it was mentioned that a boat came in with 3 t-sharks on board. Everyone will agree that taking three is a bit excessive and both hosts and Mark said there is nothing wrong with taking one!

Pretty funny that LTHU would say anything negative about thresher fishing when their very own Rockcod Rick just posted a report this week.

We got one and there was plently of meat for everyone.
As far as LTHU, don't really care what they have to say. Show is pretty much one big commercial nowadays anyways.

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. I can understand the opposition to over fishing the T sharks when a popular method of fishing for them is planning a tail hook and many time they do come up dead. this has been talked about before and everyone knows how certain rigs are a plan to tail hook while others make the fish come around and eat the bait after the tail slap.
I got no problem with sportfishing if a live clean release can be done, but to have it come up dead and justify it by well were gonna keep all of them, its up to you. People are always gonna bitch about something or another, so in many ways who gives a fuck.
I hear it over here in Hawaii from mainland Marlin guys that all the marlin are being depleted, and the TRUE marlin guys like on the hugger SCMO site tag and release 99% of their marlin. Intresting fact though, how many tagged marlin are really caught? I hear it from guys out everyday over here that many of the clean released marlin end up dying anyway, so if that is the case these primidonnas that preach how great they are are doing more damage then they will ever admit.
Well I have probably stirred the pot enough, but as usual i dont give a fuck.
BTW, I have heard Mark on several occassions come to PE after doing the morning show and say damn I wish I wouldnt have said that
Jack

He didn't say the 3 T catch was posted on BD the caller just used BD as an indicator of how many T catches there are right now. Consider it a compliment to have your favorite board used as the place to reference. I did not take it a a negative in any way concerning BD. Your right the show is a big commerical though, with the quality if info lacking. Maybe I'm just better informed now because of BD then I was before when I listened to LTHU then.

I thought the same thing for years. They have a lil blurb on local fishing, than 3/4 of the show is fishing somewhere I can't afford and commercials.
I think BD would make a great weekly radio show.
