A 20 lb rig, a 30 lb rig, and a 40-50 lb rig. If the fishing is meh, I just drop down to the 20. If the fish got whacked with the stupid stick that day and are biting anything, 50! Thats my take at least

seeker black steel 670 with saltist 40 loaded with your favorite 30lb (i'm partial to p-line original blue)...a perfect bait set up for albies..and when i used to have it, for 20lb i had a seeker 858 (8.5ft) with a sealine 30 xha. can really get your bait/light jig out there. then of course a 60--80lb troll set up and/or a 50--60lb meat stick for when the albies get stupid...plenty of 2/0 hooks and you're set. i dont deal with flouro or sinkers but thats just me

Holy shit! A fishing question...
20#, 30#, whopper stopper 50#, and a troller 80# is recommended by the boats.
Use new line and make sure that all your reels and rods are in working order. (by rods I mean the roller guides if you use them). If you bring your own feathers, check the leaders and swivels if you use them as well.

20#, 30#, 40# and 60# troller.
Sometimes a 25#.
Usually backups in 20# & 30#. Quicker to grab another rig & get back in the water than stop & retie.
And always always ALWAYS retie!
For some reason I always seem to have good luck with a 1/4 oz rubbercore or big splitshot GENTLY squeezed on the line. No pliers. Just enough pressure to hole it on. You'll lose the splitshot but big deal.

I agree w/ the light line suggestion. Fish this time of year are usually a little smaller grade. No worries on getting buzzed if yours is the only line bit. It seems that some years/days 12lb, size 4 hooks, and chovies were the only ticket to get bit.
One thing I have noticed is that many anglers will have setups from 12-50lb and only use one size hook i.e 2/0. That is fine if all the baits are horse dines. But with the usual mix, if the smaller baits start getting bit - guys don't change their hooks. Just my $.02 backed up by experience.

For Albies, given choice of a hot 'chove or horse 'dino I'll toss the 'chove every time. Go ahead & laugh at me lurking at the tank with my guppy net!

Would a 15 pound set-up be to far out of line? In addition to a 30, 40, and an 80lb troll rig. Just curious, I'm looking to get on a 2 day trip as well.

Dude, I'm fully serious. Take the 10lb rig. If you've got the line minding skill to get through others without a tangle, it's a blast. I'm not saying to do it if the fish are 30lbs but even that's doable with the right rig. That and more. Once you have the fish you want, who cares if you lose the thing. If I want the fish and the fight, I'll use some type of leader they won't get through. Either light wire or heavy mono. Once I get a few fish on board, I'll switch to the light stuff on the trollers. Use sharp, bait type hooks that are lighter wire for the hook set on your feathers. It's hard to get them to stick on big SS hooks or double hooks if they are not sharp. FUN FUN FUN.
