going to newport beach need help

hey guys i need some advice. im taking a couple of family members to fish newport harbor on the skiff at daveys just for fun. my questions are as follows what kind of rigs work best for halibut trolling or drifting. should i use the stinger hook method or just a medium size live bait hook, and what size of gear should i bring line? rods? hooks? artificials? i have fished alot for halibut on a boat but i know enogh to get me by. i just want the advice from the pros......thank guys in advance

Take a few 6lb light setups and pitch plastics at the docks for spotties.

For 'butts, try drifting the main channel just inside the jetties on an incomming tide.

4-5 inch and greens / browns / clear flakes

Start with the 5 inchers and if your getting short bit, switch out to the 4's
