1st Annual "April Fools" Coastal Lingcod Fishing Tournament

The 1st Annual "April Fools Day" Coastal Lingcod Fishing Tournament will be held on this saturday 4/1/06. It will be open only to currently registered Bloodydeckers as of 3/28/06. The rules are:

1. CA regulations
2. In coastal waters (3 miles) between Pt Loma and La Jolla
3. The longest lingcod wins
4. A picture must be taken with a tape measurer clearly depicting its length
5. Pictures must be posted on this thread no later than 1900 on 4/1/06
6. All lingcod over 28" must be immediately photographed and returned to the ocean. So make sure you have a camera and tape measurer on board.
7. No registration is necessary
8. Honesty and respect for the ocean is expected
9. Decision of The Judge is final

Winning Prizes:

1.One free 3/4 day fishing trip for one anywhere in San Diego coastal waters or the Coronado Islands with the reclusive Halibut Howie aboard his fish magnet Cabo 216. Bait, lunch, beverages, and rods/reels/tackle provided. Prize limited to anyone 18 years old and older because of lawyers and angry parents.
2. Billy Thresher owner of McKees Tavern in Rancho Bernardo has sweetened the pot by committing $20 gift certificate at his fishing sportsbar. The winning photo will hang on his wall for a year.

Sorry about the BB typo. It is corrected above. After a nite of sampling fine cabs, my fingers and brain were a little out of sync. However, lingcod over 28" are rare in these waters, and this time of year are usually females with eggs or males guarding a nest of eggs therefore for this tournament will be released to perpetuate the species. This is just good fun "free" competition so take it as that.
